Bach, Mozart and Schubert's "Trout"

These five musicians come together in the beautiful setting and natural acoustic of St.Mary's Cathedral to perform Schubert's Piano Quintet in A major D667 "The Trout" in a special performance celebrating the work of Tuam native, playwright Tom Murphy.   The concert will start with a performance of Bach's Suite No.1 for Solo Cello in G major BMV1007 by Sarah McMahon followed by Mozart's Duo for Piano and Violin in C major K296 played by Catherine Leonard and Maria McGarry.

St.Mary's Cathedral dates from the 12th century when Turlough O'Conor was High King of Ireland and contains a magnificent red sandstone chancel arch in laboured Romanesque, erected between 1128 and 1152.  The Cathedral is still used today for Sunday Services and has some lovely stained glass windows and contains relics of the Town's past glories.  The Tuam High Cross which is classed as a National Monument was removed to St. Mary's Cathedral in 1992.  
Tuam is 21 miles/34 km from Galway City on the N17 (approx. 40 minute drive).  Free parking.
