Katherine Hunka

violin

London born Katherine Hunka is leader of of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and regularly directs from the leader's chair.  She has played concerti and double concerti and given premiere performances with a number of Irish and British orchestras.  As a soloist she has performed in the Wigmore Hall, The Royal Albert Hall and The South Bank Centre in London.   Katherine performs in duo with accordionist Dermot Dunne; they have toured extensively in Ireland and performed on tour in China with the ICO.  Since 2014 when they were joined on tour by double-bassist Malachy Robinson, Katherine and Dermot are perfroming regularly as a the Far Flung Trio.  Katherine toured in Ireland in November 2015 with cellist Guy Johnston and pianist Hugh Tinney, performing works by Gliere, Franck and Schuber.
