Ireland's most distinguished string quartet, The Vanbrugh, have been based in Cork since 1985. The quartet won the London International String Competition in 1988 and have had a highly successful career since then both in Ireland and internationally. One of Europe's most successful quartets, recognised for beauty of sound, clarity of texture and integrity of interpretation, they have an unusually wide and varied range of repertoire and have an extensive discography. The National Concert Hall will host a gala concert on Sunday 20th November at 8pm in honour of the Vanbrugh Quartet. Presented by Aine Lawlor and with guest artists Cara O'Sullivan, Chi-Chi Nwanoku, Barry Douglas, Hugh Tinney, Michael Collins and the Ortus Festival Players.
